Limited Edition PULSAR-23: 1984

$2,599.99

SOMA Laboratory presents PULSAR-23: 1984, a special edition born from a collaboration between The Midium and the SOMA US Division.

This instrument emerged from a year-long exchange of ideas, shaped in close collaboration with SOMA US engineer Noah Jolly. The first SOMA instrument featuring U.S. design and engineering, carrying a new voice beneath a familiar form

In an age where every signal is monitored and every voice risks being flattened, new tools are required. Only 84 numbered units of the 1984 PULSAR-23 will be made for the United States.

This edition carries its own identity, both sonically and visually. At its core is an entirely new Bass Drum architecture, designed by Noah Jolly, introducing a new fresh sound. The Bass section is shaped by a filter inspired by the legendary Polivoks, unrefined and alive. PULSAR-23 1984 is not a mass produced object. It is a personal instrument in a standardized world.
A reminder that sound can still be handmade and unpredictable.

Full list of new features below.

BD Card:

  • New oscillator design for the BD that produces an asymmetrically clipped triangle wave that can be overdriven to a square wave with the Drive knob.

  • Tune knob range expanded

  • OMG pin is now an AC coupled FM input

  • Also incorporates a new filter for the BASS section based on the polivoks filter

Aesthetic:

  • Bare metal chassis with clear coat

  • All red LEDs

  • All black soft case

  • Red/White/Black alligator cables only

  • Personalized letters via typewriter courtesy of The Midium

The 1984 PULSAR-23 can be pre-ordered now exclusively through themidium.com or through SOMA US at Earwormllc.com with FREE SHIPPING. Units are expected to start shipping in January.

A new tool has been given. Use it well.
